Position Overview: The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at the American University of Armenia (AUA) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Public Affairs. We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, research, and university service. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Responsibilities include teaching, mentoring students, and engaging in collaborative research with colleagues both locally and internationally.

While the primary teaching responsibility will be in the Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program, candidates will also be expected to teach courses in the Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Governance (BAPG) program and contribute to General Education offerings. Ideal candidates will have the ability to teach a diverse range of courses within the policy sciences, pursue a research agenda focused on economics and finance, and exhibit extensive expertise in quantitative research methods. All instruction is conducted in English.

Responsibilities

• Teach core/required courses in both the MPA and BAPG programs, including Economics for Public Policy, Research Methods, Quantitative Methods for Policy Evaluation, Public Finance & Budgeting, etc.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students’ capstone research projects and advise on various professional development activities.
• Engage in active research and produce top-tier publications that contribute to the fields of Public Affairs and Policy Studies.
• Participate in program, college, and university service activities.
• Contribute to the outreach initiatives of the MPA program.

Requirements

• An earned Ph.D. in Public Affairs, Public Policy and Management, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Minimum one year teaching experience, preferably at a US-accredited institution.
• A record of publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.
• A commitment to civic engagement, with an emphasis on local governance, grassroots participation, and collaborative networks.
• Expertise in multiple policy-related fields, with the ability to teach courses such as:
• Economics for Public Policy
• Political and Economic Decision-Making
• Public Finance and Budgeting
• Game Theory for Social Science
• Quantitative Methods for Policy Evaluation
• Research Methods
• Experience in advising, mentoring, and teaching students, including traditional classroom settings and online environments.
• Familiarity with academic program management, including development, governance, accreditation, and assessment processes.
• Professional experience in human resource management within governmental or non-governmental sectors is preferred.
• Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.

Compensation: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with AUA’s university-wide pay scale, taking into account qualifications and experience. 

AUA offers an extensive benefits package to international hires, including a housing allowance and an international travel allowance.
