Position Overview
Under the combined supervision of the Communications Office, the Translation Committee, and the Executive Manager in the Office of the President, the translator translates online and print content, documents, and other materials related to AUA activities from Standard American English to Eastern Armenian and vice versa.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining, expanding, updating, and supervising the application of the AUA Translated Dictionary of Terms in consultation with the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA);
- Translating (into Armenian and/or English) outgoing and incoming communication/correspondence (press releases, articles, documents, etc.) with respective counterparts (media, other higher educational institutions, government bodies, etc.);
- Translating and updating website content, in consultation and collaboration with respective programs/colleges/centers;
- Editing AUA-related translated content (if translation done by other entities, such as legal counsel, etc.);
- Performing other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Translation and/or Linguistics from an accredited university;
- At least two years of relevant experience in translation, particularly in academic or institutional settings. Experience with academic or higher education-related materials is highly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of Armenian (native) and English languages.

- Strong attention to detail, ensuring the highest level of accuracy in translations and consistency with institutional language and standards

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of faculty and staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant digital tools for translation and editing
- Demonstrated, strong capability in utilizing online research and resources
Working Conditions
- In-office, part-time, four hours a day, five days a week, at the American University of Armenia
