Program background
Waste Policy Armenia is a 4-year Program aimed at improving Armenia’s waste management sectorcapacity to implement more environmentally sound waste management practices through:
- Providing technical assistance to RA Government in developing and adopting ExtendedProducer Responsibility (EPR) legislation for several specific waste streams in line with EU Wastelegislation and best practices (Program Component 1);
- Providing technical assistance to RA Government in developing a national model on wastesource separation and introducing it as a system in the town of Sevan and other pilotmunicipalities (Program Component 2);
- Building sector capacities to implement Component 1 and Component 2, as well as to scale upthe achieved results (Program Component 3).
The Program supports the implementation of several provisions set in the Comprehensive andEnhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between EU and RA, as well as several provisionsregarding “Waste management strategy and its implementation action plan” of the RA Government Program for 2021-2026.
The Program’s principal partners and beneficiaries are the RA Ministry of Environment (MoE), RAMinistry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (MTAI), Sevan Municipality and othermunicipalities to be selected from Kotayk or Gegharkunik provinces.
Scope of work
Under the supervision of the Program Manager, and guidance of Program Coordinator, theAdministrative Assistant shall:
- Provide complete administrative support for the Program activities;
- Write letters, maintain contacts with Program stakeholders and coordinate external andinternal communications flows;
- Handle all organizational, logistics, event organization, contracting and procurementprocesses of the Program in accordance with Sida and AUA policies;
- Keep all records and documents of the Program;
- Provide administrative support related to the Program’s sub-granting activities, if any,including pre- and post-sub-grant administration;
- Assist and participate in the preparation of progress reports, Program completion reports(narrative and financial), audit and evaluation/internal control reports and other reportingdocuments that may be required by the Program stakeholders, Sida or AUA;
- Assist the Program team in media outreach, if necessary, preparation and dissemination ofcommunication materials and social media content creation;
- Assist in organizing work sessions, events and internal work meetings for the team andexternal stakeholders;
- Complete other administration-related tasks as assigned by the Director of the AcopianCenter for the Environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or related field;
- At least 2 years of work experience in a relevant field;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational skills;
- Knowledge of basic financial reports/cost reporting preparation is preferable Proficiency with standard computer applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Experience working with G-Suite applications (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Armenian and English;
- Ability to work in high-pressure environments;
- Strong sense of ethics and an excellent team-player.
