Position Overview

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at the American University of Armenia invites applications for open rank, full-time faculty positions for its Master of Public Affairs (MPA) Program. We seek scholars whose research and teaching interests focus on one or more of the following subfields of Public Affairs: Public Policy, Public Administration, or Public Personnel Management.  While the position is within the MPA Program, teaching, research, and academic service responsibilities may extend to discipline-adjacent programs and research centers within the College.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and graduate teaching (three courses per semester) and will be expected to teach courses including but not limited to: Research Methods for Public Affairs, Policy Process and Analysis, Public Administration and Governance, and/or Ethics and Public Policy.  

Applicants should demonstrate a clear research agenda and the potential to produce original, high-quality scholarship in their academic discipline. A record of peer-reviewed publications or evidence of research promise is expected.

The new faculty member will contribute to the MPA Program’s participatory and shared governance, curriculum planning, thesis and capstone advising, and engagement in program- and university-level responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Earned Ph.D. (or expectation of degree conferral by the appointment date) in Public Affairs, Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field preferably from a US institution.
• Teaching experience, preferably in a US-accredited institution, will be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated interest in scholarship and research, evidenced by a record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications commensurate with the academic rank being sought.
• Experience in advising and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
• Professional experience in human resource management in the governmental or NGO sectors will be considered an asset.
• Excellent command of the English language (both spoken and written).

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with the university-wide pay scale and will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
