The American University of Armenia is hiring an Electronic Resources Librarian.
Responsibilities
Manage the Library’s electronic resources
- Maintain the Library’s electronic resource management system, the OCLC WorldShare Collection Manager/Knowledge Base
- Ensure the continued administration of the Library’s e-resources throughout their entire life cycle, including resource trials, evaluation, activation implementation, administration, integration into the Library’s Discovery platform, usage statistics harvesting & analysis, and more.
- Negotiate license agreements and contract renewals with both internal and external constituents
- Troubleshoot electronic resource access and user authentication issues
- Provide usage analysis of the Library’s e-resources on an annual and as-needed basis
- Serve as the main liaison between the Library and vendor representatives
Support faculty, students, researchers and staff
- Guide patrons in the use of research databases, discovery tools, citation management software, and emerging research technologies
- Work with information literacy team to design, deliver and assess information literacy instruction sessions for undergraduate and graduate courses
- Organize workshops, seminars, and research-related programming
- Have a thorough understanding of searching patterns and other user behaviors in electronic resource use
- Seek out new areas of collaboration with faculty, staff and students, and help guide innovative campus initiatives
- Develop thorough knowledge of the Library’s available electronic resources and their potential applications in the classroom and beyond
Collection development
- Actively seek out and investigate new electronic resources for Library acquisition based on faculty and student feedback and international trends
- Provide data, analysis, and recommendations to support selection and budgeting decisions
- Stay current with developments in databases and electronic resource trends and tools internationally
- Integrate and promote Open Educational Resources and Open Access principles as part of collection development strategy
Other responsibilities
- Help maintain a quiet and respectful library space via implementation of Library Code of Conduct
- Engage with local and international colleagues via AMICAL (American International Consortium of Academic Libraries), IAALA (International Association of Armenian Librarians and Archivists), and other partnerships
- Participate in other Library projects as needed
Requirements
- Graduate Degree, or equivalent experience in using or managing electronic resources. Preference will be given to candidates with a Library Science or related degree
- Fluent in Armenian and English
- 1-3 years of work experience
- Experience in managing electronic systems and platforms, development and teaching of instructional materials, working in service positions, and/or conducting scholarly research
