Project: Organics Mobilized: Accelerating Social Transformation towards a Circular Bioeconomy
Start Date: November 2026
End Date: August 2028
Project Background
The Organics Mobilized: Accelerating Social Transformation towards a Circular Bioeconomy project supports Armenia’s transition toward sustainable organic waste and biomass management through integrated circular economy approaches. The project is implemented by the American University of Armenia (AUA), through the Acopian Center for the Environment, in partnership with UNDP Armenia, with funding from the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Food and Nutrition Challenge, a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiative.
The project aims to reduce methane and other climate pollutant emissions from the organic waste sector by strengthening national and municipal capacities, improving source separation and valorization of organic waste, piloting decentralized circular bioeconomy solutions, promoting sustainable cold-chain technologies, and facilitating behavioral and institutional transformation through Living Labs and Learning Communities.
Objective
The objective of the assignment is to provide technical and analytical support for project-wide monitoring, reporting, and data management, ensuring the availability of reliable and consistent information to track project activities, outputs, outcomes, and environmental performance. The specialist will work closely with the Project Manager, technical experts, field staff, and relevant project partners to consolidate monitoring data across project components and contribute to evidence-based reporting and recommendations.
Support the implementation and periodic updating of the project’s MRV framework, including monitoring indicators, data collection protocols, reporting templates, and data management procedures.
Assist in developing and maintaining tools for systematic data collection, processing, and visualization, including spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, and digital field data collection tools, as applicable.
Collect, compile, organize, and maintain datasets related to project activities and results, including organic waste generation and treatment, composting and AD operations, cold-chain interventions, and food loss reduction.
Track progress against project indicators, targets, and implementation milestones and regularly update monitoring records.
Provide data and analytical inputs for periodic project progress reports, technical briefs, presentations, and other project documentation.
Work closely with the Project Manager and relevant technical experts to ensure that monitoring activities are aligned with project objectives, the results framework, and agreed reporting requirements.
Expected Deliverables
Deliverables will be agreed with the Project Manager according to the project work plan and may include:
Monitoring tools and data management system: Updated monitoring templates, data collection forms, tracking spreadsheets, databases, or dashboards, as applicable.
Baseline and indicator tracking datasets: Organized baseline information and regularly updated datasets for monitoring project indicators and targets.
Periodic monitoring updates: Consolidated data summaries and progress-tracking updates covering relevant project components.
Reporting inputs: Tables, charts, analytical summaries, and other data-based inputs for project progress reports, donor reports, and presentations.
Technical and analytical briefs: Contributions to briefs summarizing project performance, key findings, implementation challenges, and evidence-based recommendations.
Monitoring and learning documentation: Consolidated records of results, lessons learned, and relevant evidence to support knowledge sharing and replication.
The frequency, format, and submission deadlines for deliverables will be agreed with the Project Manager in line with the project’s reporting requirements and implementation schedule.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, social sciences, data analytics, statistics, monitoring and evaluation, or another relevant field. A master’s degree is an advantage.
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in data management, monitoring and evaluation, environmental data analysis, research, or project reporting.
Experience in collecting, organizing, validating, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
