The Information Security Officer reports to the Chief Operating Officer. Working in collaboration with IT specialists and stakeholders from across the University, the postholder will select, design, justify, implement and operate controls and management strategies to maintain and protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability, dependability and accountability of information and information systems with legislation, regulation and relevant standards.

He is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of securing AUA’s various information systems. He is tasked with providing technical expertise in all areas of network, system, and application security. He leads AUA’s vulnerability management program, manages the annual cybersecurity assessments and penetration tests, and researches and reports on emerging threats

Requirements

Essential:

  1. Formal education to degree level in cyber-security, computing or equivalent professional qualifications or experience.
  2. Previous experience in a role that includes a large element of information security as developer, architect, auditor, security officer, advisor or similar.
  3. Good underlying technical knowledge and experience in computing, data communications and related technologies
  4. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of information risk management and information assurance.
  5. Good communication skills, a good writer and confident presenter with experience in raising, discussing and resolving information security risks with technical and non-technical customers.

Desirable:

  1. Previous experience in a full-time information security role.
  2. A recognised professional information security qualification or certification such as ISO27001, Data Security Standard or similar.
  3. Master’s Degree or similar postgraduate qualification in Information or Cyber Security or Information Assurance.
  4. Cyber Essentials or similar information security standard.
