Position Summary
The Audio/Video Equipment Technician will support the daily operations of the AUA Media Lab from the specified time mentioned above, specifically assisting Journalism and other classes taking place in the Media Lab. At the same time the Technician will support the media production activities within the Media Lab team. The Technician is responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of audio/video (AV) equipment and editing stations. This role includes managing the LED screen, supporting live and recorded productions, and ensuring proper storage and handling of all AV assets. The technician will also collaborate with the audio engineer to set up and maintain sound equipment as needed across university.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Program Support:
- Provide direct technical support to the MAMJ program, assisting faculty and students during hands-on training, workshops, and class sessions held in the Media Lab.
- Manage and maintain journalism-specific equipment and resources, ensuring availability and functionality for students.
- Coordinate with MAMJ faculty to prepare the lab space and equipment in accordance with course requirements.
Media Lab Operations:
- Assist with day-to-day technical operations of the Media Lab, including the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment, computers, software, and the LED video wall.
- Support all Media Lab projects and initiatives, contributing to a collaborative and innovative learning environment.
- Help manage the equipment checkout system, ensuring accurate tracking, return, and maintenance of gear.
Event Support:
- Provide technical support for events hosted at AUA.
- Act as on-site technician for after-hours events.
Revenue-Generating Services:
- Support the Media Lab’s income-generating activities by managing technical services related to LED screen rental, video production, and other external requests.
- Coordinate with external partners and internal departments to fulfill paid service requests professionally and efficiently.
Inventory and Equipment Management:
- Work with the Media Lab Director to manage new and existing equipment, including items procured through the approved $25,000 equipment budget.
- Maintain a dedicated inventory for MAMJ students and assist in implementing a streamlined system for equipment check-in/check-out.
- Ensure that all equipment is stored safely, used properly, and serviced regularly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in AV support or a similar technical role.
- Working knowledge of video cameras, audio systems, LED displays, and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced academic environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with journalism or media production is a plus.
- Fluency in Armenian and proficiency in English is preferred.
